Who Wants to Be a Superhero Season 2
Friday, July 27
Last night I had a gathering of friends to watch the premeire of SciFi Channel's second season of Who Wants to Be a Superhero. This was the show a friend of mine, Jeff Stewart, had tried out for.
So far it's been good, actually improving on last season.

San Diego Comic Con 2007
It was exactly this time last year that I was in sunny San Diego for the International Comic Con 2006. Saddly, everything I see on this years con just reminds me that I'm not there... and that makes me... well... sad.
.
Hey, this wasn't there last year!!! What gives?

Super Sub-Mario Bros
Here's something I got off of a videogame site I visit.
I'd like to see what the car looks like.

Comic Book Collection

Holy filing cabinet Batman!
Check out this bad boy. I picked up this fixture this week from my second job at K-mart. They were just gonna throw it away and I thought, gee... that could hold a whole lot of comic books.
I wish I had taken a picture of how my comics were stored before, just for a before/after shot.
This thing rocks.

Harry Potter Nights
Wow, this Harry Potter thing is a craze. On Friday night, a friend and I went downtown and passed a few groups of people, mostly parents with their children, a few even dressed up in wizard garb, and that's how we were reminded... tonight was the release of the final Harry Potter book.
We drove around to were the book store is downtown, hoping to take a few pictures, and they had the whole block shut off from traffic. It was a regular festival. So we parked and walked amongst the crowd.
We saw a handful of people we knew and I took a few pictures. After a good half hour or so we decided to crash another book release party at the Plaza where a few of our friends were actually working. We drove by my house real quick where I grabbed a downed tree branch and fashioned myself a "wand", just to get into the festivities.
The atmosphere at the Plaza was not quite as festive. Probably because of the line I had to wait in, and wait in, and wait in some more. Luckily I new both the bouncer and the lady at the door. There wasn't much to do inside, again my friend and I saw people we knew and talked to them. I ended up getting a "lighting bolt scar" face painted on me. Yeah, so I got a little into it, and I didn't even want a book. Heh.
I later meet up with my girlfriend and the three of us went to IHOP for breakfast. So here I was, in public outside of a Harry Potter event with a scar and wand in hand. Oh well, it was fun.

Recent TV
Wednesday, July 18
I've been watching VH1's World Series of Pop Culture. Even though the short season is about half over, I do recommend this show. I wish I was good enough to actually be on the show. There's just too much out there that I haven't even touched on.
Of course, I got the answer to the question above. If you don't know, check out the bulletin board.

“She’s a combination of beauty, intelligence, a certain warmth, and great attitude,” Smallville co-creator Al Gough tells PEOPLE. “We’ve wanted a character to shake things up. She may be Clark Kent’s cousin, but that doesn’t mean she’s going to be the obedient one!”
Vandervoort plays Sadie on the Canadian show Instant Star. Her other credits can be found on her IMDB profile.

Harvey Birdman: Cased... CLOSED!
Press Release
Case Closed on Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law Final Episodes of Critically-Acclaimed Adult Swim Original Series Air in July
After six memorable years, Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law is turning in its crest. Two new episodes airing in July will mark the official end to the popular animated series. The last episode ever is a 30-minute special and airs Sunday, July 22, at 11:45 p.m. (ET, PT). Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law helped launch Adult Swim and was part of the first original line-up on the now highly rated late-night network for young adults. The series, which was an instant success and received immediate critical acclaim upon its debut, is now retiring after 39 episodes.
Harvey Birdman was an aging, B-list superhero with bad knees before he turned in his cape and cowl to become the token cartoon lawyer at Sebben & Sebben. He may have earned his law degree from watching reruns of Law & Order, but Harvey Birdman’s client roster includes animated heavyweights Fred Flintstone, Scooby-Doo and Shaggy and Grape Ape, to name a few. And after 38 legal cases in the courtroom, his super powers are still in his blood. In his last farewell, Harvey shows that after all these years, he is not only super in the courts, but on the streets as well.
Following is the schedule for the final two episodes of Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law. All times ET, PT.
· Sunday, July 15, at 11:45 p.m. (ET, PT): “Harvey Birdman, Juror in Court” – Harvey is summoned to serve as a juror on the same trial that he is representing. Duplicator creates a second Harvey so that the winged ex-superhero can carry out both of his civic duties. And even though it’s relatively clear that just the one Harvey alone barely makes any substantial impact whatsoever, it is possible that two Harveys together can win over one jury. Meanwhile, Potamus, claims sexual harassment at the hands of Judy Ken Sebben. Emotionally scarred, he finds comfort in support groups.
· Sunday, July 22, at 11:45 p.m. (ET, PT): “The Death of Harvey” – After all his 38 cases were ordered a “re-do,” Harvey falls into a drunken depression, until the Birdteam comes to his rescue. Harvey transforms into the superhero lawyer he was meant to be, just in time to defend the city from one of his former clients, Nitron, who is wreaking havoc on the city. Will Harvey be able to save the day or does he die, like the title clearly suggests? More importantly, will X finally obtain the crest?
Based on characters created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law was created by Michael Ouweleen and Erik Richter. The series premiered in Sept. 2001, debuting simultaneously with Adult Swim.
Adult Swim (AdultSwim.com), launched in 2001, is Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.’s network offering original and acquired animated comedy and action series for young adults. Airing overnights six days a week for a total of 45 hours weekly, Adult Swim shares channel space with Cartoon Network, home to the best in original, classic and acquired programming for children and families, and is seen in 91 million U.S. homes.

Biggest Loser... the Week After
Yes, yes, I know... This contest ended a week ago. But if I plan to keep the weight off, things are going to have to change for me.
The biggest change after I won however was the amount of food I ate. I celebrated. HARD. I gained about a 1/6th of what I lost in the span of seven days. I had a few 4th of July cookouts, a BBQ, and all sorts of pigging out. That's.... not good.
I even had my first soda for the year on July 5th. I've had about three or so since, but have basicly gone back to straight water. Although I'm not holding myself to "no pop" anymore.
So after eight days of freedom, I've once again committed myself to first, lose the weight I gained back and second, tone and build muscle.
For the year I'd guess that I'm only half way to where I want to be.

Weekend in Manhattan
Sunday, July 8
Over the weekend, my girlfriend Rachael and I went to Manhattan Kansas for a BBQ/Engagement party for one of my high school buds Nick and his fiancee Celeste.
We both had a great time. We ate, drank, and were merry.
The highlight for me however was later in the night when we were all partying in a bar downtown. Nick asked if I'd like to be one of his groomsmen, and I was so excited and honored. I'm still on a high from it. I love my high school buds.
This wedding however isn't taking place until August of next year, so... I've got a while.
Thanks Nick and Celeste. We both had a really great time!

Transformers!
Thursday, July 5
I'm always late on posting this kind of stuff, but I saw Transformers on Tuesday night. I was expecting the worst while hoping for the best.
What I got was an fun action packed thrill ride of the summer! I should write film reviews.
Actually I shouldn't. But here's a clip that totally has nothing to do with the movie version of this cartoon. It's been re-dubbed for your entertainment value. Enjoy!

Biggest Loser: Victory Is Mine!
So, after six long months and 53lbs later, I won the "Biggest Loser" contest here at work. The whole day felt like my birthday, I felt really good about it too. I never thought I'd lose THAT much.
Now to phase two: tone up and build muscle. Honestly I just want to look good in my swimming shorts.
Believe me, I am NOT gaining it back. I will not let that happen. I'm enjoying this weight loss, and enjoying the new "slimmer" me.

Draw Me In... Letter Column???
Sunday, July 1
*Edit: Just an FYI, the bold parts above are the responses by Robert Kirkman, writer of the series The Walking Dead.*
So, I was reading the letter colum in the latest issue of The Walking Dead, a comic that made my second comic appearance. Apparently somebody thinks that my panel looks too much to be a cowincky dink. It was just so cool reading about myself like that, kinda outside of the box looking in.
Yeah, it was a total "high" moment.

Biggest Loser...
Just a quick note. One more day stands between me and a hopeful victory!
As of last Tuesday I have lost a total of 49lbs. I hope to pass 50 this Tuesday.
Sweet.

Guitar Hero: Rocks the 80's
How did I let this one slip by. It even comes out on July 17th. That's good news cause it's only weeks away. It's got great songs by Ratt, Winger, Twisted Sister, Skid Row and others. Holy crap... it's starting again, I'm shaking all over. Must... have... game.

Summer Blockbuster Stuff
So, this is the summer and time for the blockbuster films. I've had a bit of a late start watching a few including Shrek 3 and Pirates 3. Last week I finally had the chance to see Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. I liked it better than the first.
Just days ago I watched Die Hard 4 (jezz, summer of the sequel). Although I thought the idea of a PG-13 Die Hard was gonna suck, I think they did a good job with it.
Coming up this holiday weekend is Transformers!!!! I hope this movie is as good as I've hyped it up to be. Then shortly there after is Harry Potter. I hope it calms down soon, too many trips to the cinema.
Below is a skit from the Ben Stiller Show, where he pokes fun at Die Hard.
Here is an awesome new version of the Transformers theme song with video of the new movie. The song didn't make the cut on the soundtrack, but it rocks!
