Harry Potter Nights

Sunday, July 22

Wow, this Harry Potter thing is a craze. On Friday night, a friend and I went downtown and passed a few groups of people, mostly parents with their children, a few even dressed up in wizard garb, and that's how we were reminded... tonight was the release of the final Harry Potter book.
We drove around to were the book store is downtown, hoping to take a few pictures, and they had the whole block shut off from traffic. It was a regular festival. So we parked and walked amongst the crowd.

We saw a handful of people we knew and I took a few pictures. After a good half hour or so we decided to crash another book release party at the Plaza where a few of our friends were actually working. We drove by my house real quick where I grabbed a downed tree branch and fashioned myself a "wand", just to get into the festivities.

The atmosphere at the Plaza was not quite as festive. Probably because of the line I had to wait in, and wait in, and wait in some more. Luckily I new both the bouncer and the lady at the door. There wasn't much to do inside, again my friend and I saw people we knew and talked to them. I ended up getting a "lighting bolt scar" face painted on me. Yeah, so I got a little into it, and I didn't even want a book. Heh.

I later meet up with my girlfriend and the three of us went to IHOP for breakfast. So here I was, in public outside of a Harry Potter event with a scar and wand in hand. Oh well, it was fun.
