Jeff & Lauren

Sunday, September 28

Saturday night was spent at Liberty Hall in Lawrence, witnessing the marriage of two of "the Tongie Friends". This makes this the third of this particular group this year, for those keeping count at home.

Thing is I never went to school with either of them. When everybody (everybody) started to work at K-Mart in Lawrence, one of their co-workers (Jeff) eventually befriended them and through extension... myself. Jeff has been nothing but delightful, and the love of his life Lauren, absolutely compliments him.

Congratulations to them both, Rachael and I had a blast. We always love hanging with the group.

By the way yes, I know.... I'm next.

Superman Appreciation Month

Friday, September 26

Well, I am running short on ideas here, again, not wanting to just post pictures of Superman stuff I might own, but has something to do with my everyday life. So, of all the things that say "Hey look! I really do like Superman!", it would have to be the tatto.

I think I was 20 when I got this? I got this tatto on my left sholder, at the same time one of my other friends Charlie was getting a Green Lantern tatto. Ah, good times.

Superman Appreciation Month

So I came across this guy at K-Mart last night. Yeah, he's a total stranger but I couldn't help but notice the "S" shield shaved into his head. He was a good sport about getting his picture taken. I told him I was a big Superman freak and acknowledged my geekdom. I couldn't help but post this during of course Septembers Superman Appreciation Month.

Cheers!

Superman Appreciation Month

Sunday, September 21

Yeah Hey! It's my desk at work. Check it out. I've got those Superman Returns figures there and ah... three pictures of the cast of Smallville. Also pictured is a Superman keychain I got as a present from a co-worker. Not pictured are a few other Superman related items, such as my own personalized Fortress of Solitude sign welcoming visitors.

Royals Vs Mariners

Wednesday, September 17

Tuesday I went to my one and only Royals game of the season. I always try to make at least one game a year with my father. And luckily for us, they won! 6-3. Whoo Hoo!

Currently they are renovating the stadium, which check out that screen... Holy Crap! That's a nice screen. They plan on finishing up for the next season. There's something going up on each side of the back field, it all looks great. It's nice that the stadium is getting a face lift and not getting too extreme... like a new building.

Superman Appreciation Month

Tuesday, September 16

Time again for another one of these. I've been slacking. Busy, busy week. What do I have for today, let's see.

Alright. Since I've shown off my vehicle, and that niffty "Kal-el" personal plate on the back, here are the older versions I've kept and put up on my computer room wall. This is just one of those little details I don't think I'll give up anytime soon. Plus it makes remembering my license plate that much easier.

My Aunt DJ

Saturday, September 13

Yesterday sometime around or shortly after 1:00pm my Aunt DJ was taken off of life support and passed away. She had diabetes and was on dialysis, when on Tuesday she had an incident and needed CPR to bring back a pulse. She hasn't been responsive and was on life support till then.

She was a character, I'll give you that. And I don't think she'd deny it either. But she was always loving and big on family. It's weird, having an aunt pass away, only a handful of years older than my dad. And I feel bad for my cousins. For Larry, her husband. And I feel bad for my father, for losing a sister. Being an only child, I have no idea what it would feel like to lose a sibling.

Mode of Transportation: Part II - The Inside

Now that I've opened up the door, let's look inside. Both pictures above show my Superman love through gifts. Yes, I did not have to pay for either the steering wheel cover, the matching floor mats, and even that Aquaman doll hanging from the rear view.

Mode of Transportation: Part I - The Outside

So on my Jeep, there are a few references to Superman. It's nice to be able to have others identify which ride is mine... well, unless they're going to do something bad to it. Then it isn't.

But here's my showcase of the Man of Steel via Jeep. An "S" Shield plate on the front, a personalized tag on back, and a sticker on the rear spare tire.

OMG HAPPY BIRTHDAY TREY!!!!!

Sunday, September 7

Heh.

So Saturday, most of the usual suspects and I gathered at the ol' watering hole that is Hooters to celebrate Trey's Birthday. There was much waiting, and waiting, and eventually we all got something to eat.
Good times were had by all. There were gifts, a gun cake, and UFC fighting for all to go around. Although I would have loved to go bowling as per originally planned (maybe next time), we all went over to the Smith's to drink, chat, and play movie trivia games. Some people just know too much about movies.

Superman Appreciation Month

Saturday, September 6

This towering figure of Superman is about 2 1/2 feet tall. He stands looking down upon all who look up at him in a corner of my computer/comic room.

Better Late Than Never

Thursday, September 4

In the up-coming weeks, many of my favorite programs will be starting back up. Shows like Heroes, Reaper, Terminator: SCC, and yes.... even Smallville. But during the summer I fell in love with a brand new show, The Middleman, which aired on ABC Family. And while I meant to post this WHILE the show was still airing, last week was the season finale of the show. So it's done for the year.

The Middleman was originally an idea for a show, that got turned into a comic book, that was later turned into a show. Wrap that one around your head. It's about a struggling artist who is recruited by a secret agency to fight against evil forces. But aside from that the show really is about its characters and the pop culture references.

Superman Appreciation Month

Wednesday, September 3

For Superman Appreciation Month, I figure I'd just kinda walk myself through an average day and post all things Superman I come across. This one's a biggie I guess.
This picture resides in my bathroom, as it did the bathroom of the last house I lived in... and probably the next. The picture is of George Reeves, he of the TV show Adventures of Superman fame. That picture was a gift from my mother, whom was later framed by my Stepmom and hung in the bathroom.

The Trailer Guy Passes

Tuesday, September 2

By the time I post this, it'll be old news. But it's still unfortunate news. "The" movie trailer voice guy, Don LaFontaine died Monday of complications from Pneumothorax, a disease that left him hospitalized in critical condition on August 22nd. As a movie fan, I thought his unique voice was just a fixture of the grandure of Hollywood.

Superman Appreciation Month

Monday, September 1

Last year during the month of September I celebrated Superman Shirt Month. Well, I've only added one Superman shirt for the entire year, and felt perhaps I should change it up for this year. So instead of just posting pictures of everything Superman I have, I thought I'd just post things Superman related in how I see them from day to day. Or some loose translation there of.

So here it begins, the weirdest thing I could find right off the bat. My cat Puddy in a baby Superman costume my fiance Rachael had found. She hopes to see the cat wear it at a Halloween party but I swear otherwise she will not.
