Comic Book Run - Denied

Wednesday night right after work I decided to go and pick up my two week stash of comics in Missiouri. Well, I've been having a bit of trouble with my Jeep as far as not having much power between 2nd and 3rd gears, and while on my way driving on I-29 my clutch gives out, and I make my way to the shoulder.

After a 55 minute wait and a nice chunk of change later for a tow, I'm currently without a vheicle.

I am having it worked on though and should have it back tonight, but still... what a sucky thing to happen.

Merf.

Go Figure...

Monday, December 18

There have been many different bands and artists to be made into figures, however I believe it is these two that have been overlooked: Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith.

I know there are still several other candidates to choose from but I feel these two could get the plastic treatment next for sure. We could list a whole bunch of other classic artists but for as long as these guys have been in the public eye, and as fun as they put themselves out there to be, I for one wouldn't mind putting these guys up next to Jimi, Slash, and Page.

What do you guys think?

Heroes Nominated For Golden Globes

Friday, December 15

I got this from the Comics Continuum today:

NBC's Heroes was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series-Drama on Thursday morning during announcements made by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.

Heroes' competition will include 24, Big Love, Grey's Anatomy and Lost.

The awards will be presented on Monday, Jan. 15 on NBC.

In addition to the series, Masi Oka of Heroes was nominated for Best Performance by a Supporting Actor in a Television Series-Drama. Oka plays Hiro Nakamura in the first-year show.

Ben Affleck, who played Superman television star George Reeve in Hollywoodland, was nominated in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture category.

The New Fantastic Four?

This image has "leaked" on the internet of March's? issue of Fantastic Four. After the shake ups following Civil War could this be the new line-up? Heroes above include Human Torch, Storm, Black Panther, and the everloving blue-eyed Thing.

Playing Ketchup

Hi.

I haven't been able to keep up on posting lately, mostly due to this joyous holiday season, so I just thought I'd touch upon it real quick and maybe mention a few things.

First off, I missed out tooting my own horn for appearing in Invincible #37... but then again that's all I've been talking about for the past month... so that's old news. My very own comic book store didn't get any copies. I couldn't believe it. So all I managed to get was a preview issue. A friend of mine was supposed to get extra copies but I've yet to actually talk to him yet: Greg Smallwood... seven days and counting!

I received an e-mail just yesterday from the artist of The Walking Dead telling me I'm going to be a zombie in issue #35! That's only two issues from now, so I hope to see come January! If it ships on time that is.

While we're talking about comics I might mention that I'm behind on my Comic Book Run listings. Not sure if anybody really reads those anyway, but looking at my large stacks of comic books I think that I'm gonna pass on those for right now.

Over the past week my good friend Charlie was back in town from the Army. It wasn't exactly under the best of circumstances, but it was good to see him and hang with him a few times while he was here.

Not really getting too much sleep nowadays. I'll be glad when Christmas is over and things go back to "normal".

That's all for now, later.

Go Figure...

Tuesday, December 12

There have been a gazillion (yes, a gazillion) Star Trek figures made. But out of all of the ones I've seen, none have really made me need them for my collection.

For the sake of comparison, I have a whole line of Star Wars figures under the "Unleashed" brand. Not every one of these figures were scenes from the films but had uncanny likenesses to the actors and action packed poses. A very nice line indeed. Now it's from these figures I'd like the same "Unleashed" treatment done to the Star Trek franchise. Enough of the ball in socket arm and leg joints. Give us something more statuesque and dynamic.

If done right I'd enjoy the entire cast to just about every series.

Smallville... "Justice"

Friday, December 8

So, last night was a new episode of Smallville, the last of the year actually. And the episode wasn't even that great except for the end (because it was over HA! I'm kidding) where Lex is found out to be involved in some metahuman power thing, which isn't too surprising because Lex is a bad guy, but the slow motion walk away plus the song from AFI was a nice scene.

BUT AFTER THAT was a preview of the next episode for 2007... "Justice" which features the return of the Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman alongside Green Arrow and Clark. I've read that this is the most expensive episode of Smallville to date... and I can't wait!

Short Cuts - by Greg Smallwood

Wednesday, December 6

My friend Greg Smallwood a few months ago had two short comic strips in the Kansas City Star. There was a "mysterious third" strip that never saw print. The above is the last in the series.

Also, his blog at Confessions of a Crap Artist is back... (meaning he's posting again)... so feel free to check it out again.
