While I was Walking...

Wednesday, March 28

During my lunch breaks at work I walk a treadmill and watch DVD's, 30 minutes at a time. In this column I review them and finish things off with my thoughts with whether or not I recommend the movie.

I'm still trying to catch up. Next on my list was Dazed and Confused.
I only watched this movie because it seemed like an important and popular film. Other than that... I didn't want to see it. But I'm glad I did.
Now, as I watch these movies in short 30-minute intervals, I wasn't thrilled at all for how this movie started. It was rather dull and mean, as the High School students were looking to paddle the freshmen. I guess such an activity was popular in the 70's?
But as I went back to the film, finishing it out, I really enjoyed it. A lot famous faces make appearances in this film. A spoof from Family Guy originally done by Matthew McConaughey made more sense to me. Ben Affleck was the biggest dick I've ever seen him play since Mallrats.
Recommended!
Next I watched Toy Soldiers, a film I had seen long ago when it first came out on VHS over 16 years ago. Damn.
Anywho, it's about a boys prep school that gets taken over by terrorists. Your basic Die Hard knock. And it still carries a bit of the 80's feel into it. It's enjoyable. You've got Louis Gossett, Jr. taking names and kicking ass. Students in the form of Sean Astin and Wil Wheaton, whom I've not really seen outside of Lord of the Rings and Star Trek: TNG, respectively.
Like I said, it's enjoyable. Mildly recommended.
