While I Was Walking...
Thursday, March 8
During my lunch breaks at work I walk a treadmill and watch DVD's, 30 minutes at a time. In this column I review them and finish things off with my thoughts with whether or not I recommend the movie.
Alright, still going in order I watched the documentary pic Wordplay, a film about crosswords.
Yes. I watched this.
Before I get into this, here's the IMDB's official plot outline:
"An in-depth look at The New York Times' long-time crossword puzzle editor Will Shortz and his loyal fan base. "
"An in-depth look at The New York Times' long-time crossword puzzle editor Will Shortz and his loyal fan base. "
I rented this based off of the preview, and as we all know by now, previews spice things up however they can to get you to see the movie. I thought the trailer was alright and interesting to give it a shot, after all... I do enjoy a good documentary every once and a while, so long as things don't get too political (I'm looking at you Michael Moore!).
So, this wasn't bad. Not too "gripping", but had a lot of famous faces pop in for their two cents, and what they had to say was actually relevent. How I see this film is I would have pictured me watching it more on say... the History Channel or some such on TV, but would have rolled my eyes in shame if I went to the theatre to watch.
Mildly recommended... (wait for it on TV... but don't like... TiVo it or anything).
