Comic Book Run

Friday, September 15

My first "official" run to my new location for comic books. It's been like musical chairs with comic book stores this year. Wonder how long this location will last?

Anyway, a few friends, my girlfriend and I went Wednesday to ... I'm not even sure where we went. It's in Missouri, off of Barry Road, across from the Zona Rosa. I don't know where that is. It's horrible, I know.

I picked up two weeks worth of comics, plus one bonus feature. They are as follows:

Martian Manhunter #2: I love the character and appreciate the much needed changes DC has made to him. Overall I'm glad for the series, and it isn't bad, I'm just not digging the storyline.

52 weeks 18 and 19: Never a dull moment. Status quo's changing all over the place. And more mysteries evolve.

Outsiders #40: Well, I started to NOT like this, and then it got better again. And so it's fun to learn what happened during 52.

X-Men: Phoenix Warsong #1: Wasn't going to get this originally. It was put in my stash to see if I'd like it. It centers around Cyclop's group of X-men as the Phoenix entity (?) starts to influence three of the school's students. I gave it a shot at least.

Aquaman #44: Haven't read it. It's boring. I want my old Aquaman back now please.

Green Arrow #66: Dug it. Begining of an arc that flashbacks to the past missing year, where Green Arrow gets hardcore in training.

New X-Men #30: Still good, story arc got a little strung out here though. Sucks that I have to wait another month to see what I thought was going to happen this week.

Green Lantern #13: Nice work by Johns tieing in both Infinite Crisis and 52 stuff here.

Uncanny X-Men #478: Getting better. I generally don't get into space stories. This hasn't sucked enough for me to drop it though.

Walking Dead #31: This is getting long. It's not bad, but time isn't really flying by in this arc. At least things are looking up for our main characters.

And that bonus surprise... the variant Justice League of America #1 cover by Michael Turner.
