New Media Tuesday

Tuesday, November 15

I seriously need to start these a day ahead of time. Anyway, nothing much DVD came out this week that warrants any real attention. Madagascar would be the bread winner this week. I didn't find any aspect of it interesting, so I'm leaving it alone. I could be terribly wrong too. I thought the same about Ice Age before seeing it, and yes I laughed hard quite a bit, most was due to that damned squirrel.

For us big kids, we can enjoy Skeleton Key and Stealth. Both with some eye candy, but otherwise just seems lacking in anything resembling a good film. At least anything I'm into.

Sound of Music released a new anniversary edition... again. This is becoming one of those films that keeps getting new editions of, just because (the Evil Dead series comes to mind). Oprah of all people decided she hasn't gotten enough attention lately, and released a multi-disc set of her show, I don't know if it's a best of or whatever, I just don't care. It's Oprah! Also it's the last season of Friends, season ten, new on DVD. Yeah! Now I won't hear about it again until they release a super boxed set of all ten seasons.

Ok, now music. Stuff I don't care about: Big & Rich and Ginuwine. Got it, good.

Stuff I kind of care about, but not enough to purchase: Green Day's first live album (with DVD). Yeah, ok... they've released a greatest hits album, but why only include a handful of a band's hit singles on a live album? That was the biggest turn off from getting this CD. Madonna let people know she's still around, writing children's books, and music too apparently. Brand new songs including her new single "Hung Up" which heavily samples the A-Teens "Gimmie A Man After Midnight" (originally an ABBA song). So the song is a sample of a song that is a remake of a song. Wow.

Lastly is Alanis Morissette who released her best of album. For the most part, I like her stuff. I actually thought about buying this gem, had I not have almost all of the songs on it that I liked. And I'm pleasantly surprised at some of the choices, mostly songs that were from soundtrack's including Dogma's "Still".
