Television Doesn't Rot Your Mind, Video Games Do!

Tuesday, November 8

Let's talk video games for a while shall we.

Over the weekend I had the opportunity to play Resident Evil 4, new for the PS2. It's true I've never really been a fan of the franchise, and interest really wavered when the second movie was released. Infact, this was the first time I've played a RE game on the Playstation. The only one before was Resident Evil 2 on my N64. I'm quite aware of the story from games before, and this one takes a bit of a leap, which is good. It's set in Europe, and it's like six years after the first game. And I like the game play better, it's more of a 3rd person shooter. In the old PS1 versions, every room you entered, the camera didn't really move at all, it was like you controlled your character from a video booth, camera stuck in the corner. Much more freedom. I liked it for what I played. It had been a while since I've cursed like I did, playing a game. Something about being hacked to death by a chainsaw yielding zombie and screaming "DAMN IT, FUCK!"

Star Wars Battlefront II is another game I've played recently. Space battles and playing as Jedi are newer features in the game. I haven't quite gotten used to either of them, but that just means I should play more then huh? I think it's just fun playing out the movies.

Out today is Enter the Matrix: The Path of Neo, where you get to play as "the one". Critics and reviews all seem set on the same idea, this is actually a good Matrix game. All the videos and pictures scream for me to play this game. You play Neo through all the movies, everything you can think of, and then.. a new ending! Hopefully better than what they came up with originally.
