Down With the Sickness

Wednesday, February 20

Sunday morning I was at work, and around 10:30 or so I took my break. During that time I was starting to feel really sick, having severe abdominal pains. It only took five minutes after my break to ask to leave work.

I arrive home and down several rolaid/peptmo bismo type medicines. I writhe around in pain, never once feeling a second better. I even made myself throw up, thinking it just MIGHT help me feel better. Nope, nothing. After about two hours of this I decide something is wrong and only a trip to the emergency room can help me now. Because it hurt.
I go to Cushing... wait for about five minutes there before I realize it's going to get me nowhere. I pack it up and go to St. John's Hospital. I'm still in lots of pain, and in the waiting room for the ER where I grab a trash can and throw up the only snack I had for the day... and will unfortunately. That's when they get me in and hook me up with some drugs. Whatever they shot into me, cut my pain in half in seconds. And whenever I needed it they gave me more.

They did several tests over the next day and a half. In the ER they noticed I had a slow heart beat, which they later determined wasn't all that serious. Apparently I'm athletic type, who would have thought that? Anyway, the big problem that was causing my pain was... my gallbladder.

I needed surgery and so my gallbladder removed Tuesday. I was moved from the ER to a room in ICU for a night, which is where I'm at in the photos I posted. I hardly ate during my stay. Mostly because they were making me fast for tests. Long story short, I got home today with four new holes on my belly.

So I had an interesting Sunday.
