Comic Book Run

Wednesday, November 15

Went last wednesday... so this is a week late. Got two weeks worth to run through, plus an advance copy here or there. To be honest there's still one or two I haven't finished yet. Just haven't sat down to read anything lately.

Uncanny X-Men #480: Part 6 of this 12 part "Shi'ar Empire" storyline. Not bad so far considering the team is made up of all of these X-Men I really don't know... and Nightcrawler. I'm just absorbing all of this "X" stuff.

Invincible #36: This is an advance copy, and that puts #37 coming out sometime hopefully in December. Can't wait. This issue shows Mark back at college helping out his friends. It also features a two page splash that's gonna be an Invincible poster later. I might have to get that.

New X-Men #32: Deals with characters and deaths of people from before I jumped on to this title, so overall it's kind of new and confusing. I'll get by though, still a good book.

Outsiders #42: So far "One Year Later" has failed on this title. I'm barely keeping on. All of the storylines have been lacking thus far. The only thing I've enjoyed is seeing the addition of Boomerang to the team.

X-Men: Phoenix Warsong #3: At first I probably could have lived without picking up this mini-series, but now that I've invested to the halfway mark, I have to see how this ends. I know that the definition to the Phoenix is to "rise from the ashes", but I really wish they'd just let it die.

Martian Manhunter #4: The storyline plots I didn't care for originally are becoming interesting, the writing... getting better... the art, not bad. I really love this character, so I'm glad he has this limited series. Hopefully this will spin off well for him.

Ninja Scroll #2: I'm glad this picks off from the movie instead of the TV show, cause then I might be lost otherwise. There's not much to read in this action packed book, so it goes fast. I love the art, the charcters look right on! Don't know much about any kind of story going on, it's a little dry, otherwise it's still a fun read.

Batman #658: For something as important as "Look, Batman has a Son!", this came off as just another stunt. It's already ended before it's began.

Superman #657: Much like his stint on Aquaman, Kurt Busiek is loosing me fast on this book. I tried to give Superman another shot. They even fooled me into buying Action Comics too. And that one I KNOW is a stunt.

Gen13 #2: Let's face it, I'm buying this because there's a hot chick in it. Truthfully it's still in it's trial period.

Green Lantern #14: Still not the biggest Hal fan. This issue tells us about time spent captured after Hal and a few air force buddies get shot down, and his regret not having his ring on at the time... which is retarted by the way. This issue makes Jordan a wanted man... eh.

Teen Titans #40: I love the new Miss Martian. I think it's just an extention of my fondness for the Manhunter, however for this it works. By issues end we see another dead character come back to life. I've never read a comic with this resurrected Titan before, so I just don't care about him yet. We'll see.

Justice League of America #3: Didn't see it coming. It's getting better though, each issue better than the last. The big three are still looking through the photo album though.

52 #26: Not a very interesting week. Steel and Natasha have words. More on the Black Adam family, spotlighting on the new kid Osiris.

52 #27: By contrast this was a great week. Ralph takes on the powers of the Spectre to exact revenge on the killer of his wife. Plus the death of a powerful character with a moment that makes you say damn.

Squadron Supreme #7: This was the best comic of the bunch. The violence of this fight was awesome. Innocent people blown to bits, human sheilds... literally. Hyperion threw down hardcore and I liked it. And when all seemed lost, the three who originally took down this guy shows up and collectively tells him they're gonna "kick your sorry white ass.... punk." Nice.

Green Arrow #68: A nice finish to the "what I've been doing for the past year" story. Some of the stuff is a little far fetched... especially for a guy with a sword and bow. He's not Superman. But I'm looking forward to the next arc with Batman.
