Aquaman For the Masses

Wednesday, August 9

Well, what the hell happened huh?

Why is Aquaman popular all of a sudden?

First off, a cable show on HBO called entourage has an actor (playing an actor) landing the role of Aquaman in the characters own movie (self titled). In this fictional world we have James Cameron directing it and it makes something like a bajillion dollars box office.

In the real world we see Variety mag publish a fake add for the Aquaman movie complete with it's box office take. The world takes notice.

Second, after a pilot episode is made for a show based off of Aquaman called Mercy Reef, the network (made up of combining networks UPN & WB) decides it doesn't have a time slot for the show basicly and doesn't order any episodes.

Then, oh then, the pilot is made available on something called itunes. Something that's popular with the kiddies I guess, goes along with those digital portable thingies... isomething's. Yeah, for like a week or more it's the most popular download available. Even I don't know how that happened. Isn't porn on this too?

Whatever. The new CW network must be gearing up for Mercy Reef by now. What a great substitute for when Smallville ends (whenever that happens). Was this their plan after all? Build up Aquaman, make him popular? It's a nice wish, highly doubtful though.

And yes, I did download this bad mother and watched it. It was nice to see some nice star power in this show such as Ving Rhames and Lou Diamond Phillips. It was done nicely. I would have watched this show... yeah, big surprise, but it was done nicely. Unlike that piece of crap Birds of Prey.

And even though he won't be Aquaman this year, the would be Arthur Curry himself Justin Hartley will be appearing on Smallville this season as Oliver Queen, a.k.a. Green Arrow.

What a good time to be an Aquaman fan. Now let's all pretend that the cartoon Super Friends never existed shall we.
