Behold the Wonder That Is...

Tuesday, May 29

Ladies and Gentlemen I present: THE WALL OF POP CULTURE!

This is what I've been doing at work since last June. Yeah, I finished it just under a year. Click on the picture for the "frickin huge version"... I tried to pick from pop culture alone, but a lot of my personal tastes popped in there. I'll be impressed if you can identify EVERYTHING!

EVERYTHING!

But please, I did work on this for a while, give it a once over for a few minutes, please.

Draw Me In... Postponed

Well, thanks in part to this wonderful holiday weekend, my appearance will not be in stores come tomorrow. As it hit me on Saturday, because of Memorial Day, UPS will not ship on Monday and comics will arrive in stores on Thursday.

Add on top of that my birthday which is ALSO on Thursday. Which would be a wonderful birthday present, a comic with me in it... and Superman! But as the fates have it, I'm spending time with the family afterwards, leaving me to pick up my next, highly anticipated appearance, on Friday.

*sigh*

Biggest Loser

Thought I'd update on this. The most I've lost so far (for the year) is 41 pounds. To me, that's just amazing. And I'm still going. Am I ever gonna stop?

Probably.

Now, about this contest I'm in. I'm neck in neck with my only competition. Every week for the past three weeks now, I keep thinking I'll become the new runner-up. Especially with this last weigh in where I gained. As the fate's would have it, so did the competition. So I really dodged the bullet on that one.

Although things aren't looking to great for this week either. But I'm getting back on track. We shall see how much more I can shed before this thing is over yet!

Which ends in July by the way. *Sigh* Much too far away.

I Blame You HGTV

So... here's the ceiling progress. I'm all "handy" and stuff. And don't mind that guy in the red/pinkish shirt. It's just my father helping out. Trust me, I did a lot of the work... I'm just not taking pictures of myself doing it.

Trust me... I'm gonna need like 15 more of them bad boys to finish the meal.

The story behind this is that my friend Mike visited me at work one day and said he just couldn't resist getting it when he saw it.

Heinz Tomato Ketchup... not just a choice... but a lifestyle.

Skittles Thief

Tuesday, May 15

Here's a little ditty from MSN today.

DALLAS - A little candy can add up to a rainbow of trouble.
A man caught removing tires from a truck has been charged with stealing the tractor-trailer containing $250,000 worth of Skittles, police said.

Seven pallets of the 28 in the truck are still missing, authorities said. Alan Chavez, 22, has been charged with first-degree felony theft. It was unclear Monday whether he had a lawyer.

Visiting the Little Apple

Monday, May 14

Friday my girlfriend and I took most of the day to visit my friends from high school in Manhattan. One of them, Nick Albert, was graduating and threw a party.
The drive to and back weren't too bad. It was good to visit them, it almost seems like we go six months to a year inbetween us all gathering together anymore. Which is understandable, everybody's got stuff plus... you know... the drive. But they always come up here so it was nice to be able to return the favor by going out there.
Hopefully we can all do it again... sooner than later.

Scion Backstage

Last Thursday... Eric, Rachael and I went to the KCI Expo Center to look at the shiny new Scion XB's. My stepmother hooked us up with tickets to the event held by Toyota, so thanks to her if she's reading this. I personally thought there'd be more people to the event, but since there wasn't... it worked to our advantage.
We got to climb around in the cars like they were jungle gym equipment. Hell, we even got to test drive them (in a tiny parking lot). They had plenty of technology set up to show off their crown jewel, which I really wouldn't mind having.
They fed us, gave us free little goodies, and we all ended up in the KCI Expo Center parking lot to finish up with a car show. I liked the one set up with Guitar Hero... but that's just me.

Planet Comicon Part IV: Free Comic Book Day

Sunday, May 13

There are a few comic book events during the year. Unfortunately two of them occured during the same day. Unfortunate because dealers who participated in Planet Comicon this year had to decide either to show at the con or be at their stores on a day that's supposed to draw in new customers. It was particularly unfortunate in one case, where a signing commentment to one store for FCBD, caused this individual to miss out on a bigger opportunity to sign at the convention. It caused me to miss out on seeing him too.

I made the best of both though. Of course the comic convention was top priority. You just can't miss out on that. But afterwards, our little group made the trip to Elite Comics to pick up a few freebies including issue #1 of a new series; Astounding Wolf-man and a nice one shot highlighting The Amazing Spider-man. I really enjoyed both, good writing and art for both.

So ends, finally, my coverage of a long comic book filled day.

Planet Comicon Part III: Spider-man 3

Sunday, May 6

I'm incredibly late in posting this, but here's part III of my comicon day from May 5th.
To the left of me is my bro Brian who scored the evenings Spider-man 3 tickets. The big question from just about everybody I know who's seen it has been, "What'd you think of it?"
It's gotten many mixed reviews, and so I play it down the middle with everytime I answer this. I personally think it WAS entertaining while at the same time, could have been two seperate stories. I think at one point they thought this was going to be it for the franchise and so decided to get in as much as possible.

Planet Comicon Part II: Lois Lane!

Noel Neill has been at Planet Comicon a few times, and I saw her on stage in San Diego, but this was the first time I decided to actually meet the woman who was the first on screen Lois Lane.
I got an autographed photo and a picture taken with her (above). She was very kind and obviously enjoys her fans and this whole Superman thing. I so wanted to ask her if she saw Hollywoodland and get her thoughts about it, but decided against it.

Planet Comicon Part I: Draw Me In

On Saturday May 5 I went to the big local comic convention Planet Comicon. There were a few big names from out of town in attendance, plus many of the local guys who always attend. I tried to pimp my Draw Me In campaign to at least a handful of comic pros. I handed out five flyers to these guys, in this order; Phil Hester, Jim Lee, Ale Garza, B Clay Moore, and Matt Fraction. Only the two I pictured above (Garza and Moore) really took an interest in it. The others... ah... not so interested. But I'll be hopeful.
I had fun though. I was pretty much out all day, my girlfriend and I hanging with one of our couple friends.

I've Been Up Since 3am...

...and I feel like crap. So what do I do? I crawl up to my computer to tell the internet about it. Like the internet really cares? But hey, it's something. I just figured I needed to blog something cause I've been slacking again at this. This will probably be one of those days were I just "link dump" a bunch of stuff I find on the internet.

Not like there's much going on right now anyway.

So I'm here... sick and off work. Yippie.

Think I'll go to bed now. Later.
