Shows Coming Back this Fall

Friday, May 30

Just to give you an idea, I've been meaning to post something like this since the 15th of May, it's been sitting as a draft. And so here I am, not posting again. So the following are little thoughts and info about a few shows I really dig and are coming back for a new season later this year!

REAPER: The sleeper hit of the writers strike. I was hoping this show wasn't going to get the axe after the strike ended. It only aired a handful of shows before their stockpile ran out. I feared it would be forgotten. But NO! When the season resummed it hit the ground running. Fast paced stories and several plot twists and turns. It's serious and it's funny. It's Buffy the Vampire Slayer for dudes... that is assuming Buffy is for chicks... cause I never really watched that show. So I don't know. Moving on.

SMALLVILLE: Ah, where to start on this one. Well, it'll have a few cast members coming back as regulars. They would be Tom Welling, Aaron Ashmore, Allison Mack, and Erica Durance are returning for Season 8. Kristin Kreuk will be back for at least a few episodes, but not all of them. Laura Vandervoort (Kara) may return for a few episodes, and if the producers are lucky, may get Michael Rosenbaum for a guest shot or two. It's rumored that the Martian Manhunter, Green Arrow, and Braniac may make return appearances.

Two new villains have been announced. One is a female villain that hasn't been identified but would be "familiar to many fans". So mysterious. Oh, and the other is DOOMSDAY. The only character to have killed Superman. So, we'll see how the Smallville universe treats him. I picture something like Bane was in Batman & Robin.

HEROES: This one won't take but a second. Not much to report. Last season was cut short due to the writer strike. Season 2 hits DVD on August 26. The next season doesn't start back up till September 22. Um... hopefully it doesn't suck... next!

TERMINATOR - THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES: There's a title for ya. YEAH! I'm about to make a terrible pun... ready?

She'll be BACK.

Ok, so this show didn't suck. And it replaced Heroes for me during the strike. A tv show based off of movies had lots of potential to suck, but it went in a direction I wasn't expecting... the future. All the way to 2007.

The show is well written and the actors play their parts well. It takes the legacy of Terminator and treats it well. I wasn't sure how they could play off the movies and make a show actually fit, but I don't care, it's become it's own monster.

Love This Guy

Friday, May 23

It's because of the reenactments that got me to follow this guy's stuff... but it's the entertaining things like this that shows he's got the talent to pull it off by himself. Of course, I recommend checking out all the movie reenactments too.

Zapper Time!

Thursday, May 15

So this is something I came across at Kotaku.com. Notice the base is larger than a real NES cartridge, that's because it was custom built for the gun to rest on. That's a lot of work, but you can't say I wouldn't be proud to display it somewhere in my computer room.

Happy Wednesday!

Wednesday, May 14

So I'm reading this book by Kevin Smith, the kind of celebrity I think most comic book fanboys someday hope to become... but probably thinner. Not to say that he's an obese man. But I digress, in this book today I came across a new term or phrase that I think describes my bi-weekly trips to the comic book store on Happy Wednesdays - he calls it a "comiquest". I liked the new word and so now I shall adopt it as my own to use.

Ugh, cursed these rising gas prices. What the hell America? Did we get our stimulus checks just to help cover the gas prices for the year? I'm going to have to start going for comics once every three weeks instead of two. Kinda takes the joy out of a weekly periodical. But for these two weeks, I feel it's worth it. Here's what I'm hoping to grab up.

Action Comics Annual #11 (FINALLY!)
Infinity Inc. #9
Supergirl #29
Avengers/Invaders #1
Mighty Avengers #13
Secret Invasion #2
Young X-Men #2
The Boys #18

Batman #676
Booster Gold #9
Green Arrow Black Canary #8
Green Lantern Corps #24
Titans #2
Wonder Woman #20
Walking Dead #49
X-Men Legacy #211

AP: MAN DRESSED AS DARTH VADER SPARED JAIL FOR ATTACK 0N JEDI CHURCH FOUNDER

Tuesday, May 13

HOLYHEAD, Wales (AP) _ A man who dressed up as Darth Vader, wearing a black garbage bag for a cape, and assaulted the founders of Britain's first Jedi church was given a suspended sentence Tuesday.

Arwel Wynne Hughes, 27, attacked Jedi church founder Barney Jones _ a.k.a. Master Jonba Hehol _ with a metal crutch, hitting him on the head, prosecutors told Holyhead Magistrates' Court. He also whacked Jones' 18-year-old cousin, Michael Jones _ or Master Mormi Hehol _ bruising his thigh, in the March 25 incident.

Unfortunately for Hughes, the incident was recorded on a video camera that the cousins had set up to film themselves in a light saber battle.

``Darth Vader! Jedis!'' Hughes shouted as he approached.

Hughes claimed he couldn't remember the incident, having drunk the best part of a 2 1/2-gallon (10-liter) box of wine beforehand.

``He knows his behavior was wrong and didn't want it to happen but he has no recollection of it,'' said Hughes' lawyer, Frances Jones.

District Judge Andrew Shaw sentenced Hughes to two months in jail but suspended the sentence for one year. He also ordered Hughes to pay 100 pounds (US$195; euro126) to each of his victims and 60 pounds (US$117; euro76) in court costs.

Barney Jones, his brother Daniel and cousin Michael set up the Church of Jediism, Anglesey order, last year. It claims about 30 members.

Jedi is the faith followed by some of the central characters in the ``Star Wars'' films. In the 2001 United Kingdom census, 390,000 _ 0.7 percent of the population _ listed Jedi as their religion.
