Wedding!

Saturday, April 26

This is a bit late on posting, but I just didn't have the time to upload pics. But a week ago I ventured to Topeka Kansas to witness the marriage of my longtime high school bud Shaun O'Brien to his lady friend Katie.

It was a nice catholic wedding followed by a nice reception on a rather nice day. I wish them both the best. Now the ticker is counting down to my next high school bud's wedding, Nick Albert... then of course following eventually... my own.
Pictures below!

What Was Once... Is Now No More

Tuesday, April 22

I forget how many months ago it happened, but a while back the house across the street from me had caught on fire (for reasons unknown). But information had leaked to me (via the next door neighbor) that the house was to be demolished today at 1:00.

Well, it was later than 1:00, but during the course of the day I swung by and took pictures. Sure enough, the building is NO MORE. Gone. Wiped from the face of the Earth. Merely a memory, but in the pictures above. Now, I wonder what will become of that space? Hmmm.

Draw Me In - Version 2.0!

The New Draw Me In site is up!

It's been a long time coming. I've been planning this redesign/relaunch since back in December, but the wait has been worth it. No longer is it just some simple layout thrown together by some web amateur by yours truly. Now it is a thing of beauty crafted by a friend of mine, Jeff Stewart, who actually knows what he is doing.

I am proud to use it as the new face of my campaign from here on forward! Check it out already!!!!

I Want One! How Much?

The premise is simple: take one NES cart, one NES, empty the working-bits from the NES, empty the NES cart, put the working-bits from the NES and squeeze them into the NES cart. Insert actual NES cart into NES cart NES, plug into TV, play Mario. Easy. It's the slimline NES we would have had if old Nintendo ever pulled a new Nintendo and released a slimmer, smaller NES, then released it in limited-edition, themed variants.

Happy Wednesday!

Wednesday, April 16

I missed out posting about my last comic book run, seeing as I picked up my one week of comics at the Planet Comicon. But now I have two weeks worth waiting for my grubby (yes, grubby) hands.
They are:

Booster Gold #8
Countdown to Final Crisis #3 (only because of Freddie Williams II art)
Green Arrow Black Canary #7
Green Lantern Corps #23
Justice Society of America #14
Titans #1
Wonder Woman #19
Batman and the Outsiders #6
Brave and the Bold #12
Gotham Underground #7
Robin #173
The Sword #7
Avengers Initiative #11
Powers Annual 2008 (pictured)

Lots of DC these two weeks. That can only mean a ton of other publishers for the next two weeks.

Planet Comicon 2008

Sunday, April 6

Over the weekend I went to my big local convention Planet Comicon. I decided to approach a few of the guests in attendance with my campaign.

I had meet Kurt Busiek two years ago in San Diego, but this time around I decided to give him a special flier with a letter to Mark Bagley on it. In about a month or so Busiek and Bagley are beginning DC Comics new weekly series Trinity, staring Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. I hope Mark gets that flier!

Because he was doing a lot of sketches, I ended up waiting the longest in David Finch's line. When I did get around to meeting him, he seemed like a very nice guy and even seemed to take to the flier I gave him, very... enthusiastically curious? He really looked over the flier and letter I had put with it for a while and mentioned how he'd never seen anybody really organize something like this. Which is good, I don't need any copy cats out there.

The next three guys are no strangers to Planet Comicon or to me handing them propaganda for that matter. All living close to the Kansas City area and for me giving them all fliers at previous conventions. First up, I approached B. Clay Moore whom surprising remembered me and mentioned he still had my last flier. Hearing this is often encouraging. I ended up buying the first three issues of Hawaiian Dick for him to sign, and hopefully one day I'll be seeing myself in those pages.

Right next to his table was Jason Aaron, writer of Scalped, Ghost Rider, and Wolverine. He too remembered me and I handed him a few fliers to give out to an artist or two he works with. He was very nice to meet again, I bought one of his Wolverine issues to sign, and moved on to my last target for the convention; Phil Hester.

Here's a guy whom I wasn't too sure about in the past. The first time I ever approached him with a flier he referred to me as "that guy from the message boards" and dismissed the idea. Of course I wasn't "that guy" and figured Phil would be out of the picture. However, I'm glad I tend to follow up on these things. I e-mailed him one day and not only did he remember me AND still had my flier, he mistook me for someone else and now seemed keen to the campaign. I handed him a flier this year with a note that read, "Here's another one for the collection. I'll wear you down eventually". He's a cool guy. And by the way Phil, I still couldn't find an issue of Ant-Man #10 anywhere. Maybe next year.
I also managed to pick up tons of single issues that I had been missing. However there were two that I couldn't find that pissed me off, but I'll find them eventually. No sketches this year, which seemed odd. Good times!

The Joys of Owning a Cat

Stupid cat woke me up twice this morning. Once at 2:00am for coughing up a "hairball", and then again a few hours later with the stupid automatic cat litter box. Sometimes if there's too much cat litter behind the automatic scoop, it'll keep going back and forth on it's track until it can reset itself.

Thanks Puddy for making my morning bright and lively. Stupid cat.

Taxes Suck, and Then You Die.

Damn man, getting your taxes done are just a big inconvenience. I owe State, I get something back from Federal, and I pay to get my taxes done for me... in the end it comes close to even. So in doing so taxes are just a big waste of time. The only thing I get to look forward to is this money everybody is supposed to get this year. And damn if it doesn't end up paying on a credit card or something.

On top of that add to the fact that I've lost a source of income recently, and now I'm getting medical bills finally from my stint in the hospital from a month back. It's a financial triple whammy!

Damn it.
