And Then... There Was Room

Monday, March 31

I don't even remember JUST how long I've owned my house... what... six years now? Jeez, really that long already? Anyway, I've always had a room mate during that time. At first it was my high school bud Francis, but that didn't last too long. As timing had it, one of my co-workers at K-mart was ready to move out and needed a place to stay. And so he did up until yesterday. Travis, the room mate I had for many years, has moved out.

It's all good though, homeboy moved in with his girlfriend. Or should I say they got a place together, cause technically they were both living at the house for a while.

So here's to a new life for him and his lady friend. And you know what? This room here, I've NEVER really used it personally. After all this time. Weird.

Pot Head?

Well, I know just about anybody who really cares about the Harry Potter series has read the damned things. But I don't read much, so this is a big deal to me so I'm blogging about it, ok?

Having no patience whatsoever, months ago I decided to finish the Harry Potter series that I started with in movies, and read the last two books of the series. I just finished the last one a few days ago, and damn... aside from a bit of camping, I absolutely loved them. I can't wait for the films to be filmed/shown so I can join those who complain about what they left out and did wrong. Heh.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince comes out this November, and a year from that the first half of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows comes out. The second half will supposedly come out the following May. That's about two more years to finish the series out. Ugh!

Smallville... What Happened To You?

Monday, March 17

Smallville, a show I watch religiously for no reason but because it IS about Clark Kent and WAS good, needs a swift kick in the ass and find a new direction. Because it recently was renewed for another season, only without two of it's three main actors. Namely Michael Rosenbaum and Kristin Kreuk.

I think they need to bring in the Legion of Super-Heroes, a team of superpowered 20 somethings from the far future (31st Century?) Anyway, the show was good, and it's direction is really going nowhere, and they keep pulling characters from the comics, and making them Smallville characters. How about actually using some of the ideas instead of just characters from the comics? But what do I know.

Wizard World LA

Sunday, March 16

Some of the best comic news I've heard reported in a while.

Will we see the original Aquaman again? DiDio: "Aquaman. This year." DiDio said they want to make sure that the next time readers see Aquaman, it'll be the "best" version of the character.

Also from Marvel we will see THE RETURN OF THE SQUADRON SUPREME. About... Damn... Time.

I'm Off To See The Wizard!!!

Sunday, March 9

You don't know how proud of myself I was for coming up with that title.

Saturday night was a special geeked out night for me. It all started about a month and a half ago with me surfing a videogame website I frequent. During that day I read about a special screening of my all time for some reason favorite movie 1989's epic THE WIZARD in Texas. Well, I don't live in Texas, but "hey, we have a similar theatre in Kansas City that shows stuff like that". And so I checked out the Screenland Theatre's website to find to my surprise, and it truely was a shocker, they had planned a March showing for The Wizard, less than an hour's drive from me.... "Oh Hell Yeah". So I bought two tickets.

That was the easy part.

Fast forward to last Thursday where my partner in crime Brian does his thing and discovers the 1pm showing we had tickets for had been cancelled. You know, it would have been nice to know that ahead of time. And we wouldn't of had he not looked into it. Story is they double booked the theatre room for that day, and where people pay hundreds of dollars to rent it out, cancelling the one showing of the movie was the money maker decision. Apparently they option to even buy tickets for the 1pm showing wasn't up that long anyway, but I had jumped on the opportunity at the time. The management was very happy to make us happy. Which was awesome of them. I got my money back for the showing that nolonger existed, and we got a free ride for the only 9pm showing they had. On top of that they even gave us a few freebies at the concession stand. Kinda sucky for dropping the early showing like that, but they made up for it. God, imagine how pissed we would have been showing up at 1pm otherwise.

Another allegory for the evening; I was hoping to use this trip to Kansas City to flesh out a few of my comic books at a neato shop called Clint's Comics. It closes at 7pm, we got there at five after six. Damned if there wasn't a sign in the window that said "Closed early 3-8-08 at 6pm" Well shit. I knocked on the door as I saw a lone person walking around, so I at least had to try to get in. He said the register had been closed down", a classic line for telling people to get lost, and it was because of some comic book release party somewhere. Ugh. So I ended up going to B-Bop Comics, located coveniently across the street. I found a few I needed. But it sure wasn't no Clint's.

I Wanna Rock!

So for about a month now, and the forseable future, I have been investing at least a day (more pending work) a week with a group of friends who have decided upon themselves to form a band. And at least with my participation (guitar skills pending) have become a part of it. So far I have been impressed by how quickly original material has been produced by this group. The talent is defiently there. Except by yours truely.

I know where I stand as far as being anything of a guitar player. I get my kicks playing Guitar Hero, not spending my time trying to become one. But yet I keep going to these practices. And damnit if I don't feel like I do participate and get better by everytime I go.

Some Draw Me In Stuff

Thursday, March 6

Here's a link I found today on The Boys. I post it because it has the two pages from The Boys #15 in which I appear in the article... which is kinda cool to just look at an article and "Bam" there I am.

And if the Diamond listings are correct and are not subject to change, then FINALLY I'll be showing up in Astounding Wolf-Man #5 next week, so YEAH!!!!!!

The site revamp is still chugging along. Looking forward to that and then I'm planning on kicking off another big wave of selling myself to comic book artists. 2008 is looking to be a good year for the campaign!
