So I had sent in a letter in response to a letter written about my one panel in The Walking Dead.

Well, it got printed. Here it is!

Slow on the Bloggin'

As the title says, I've been a little bit busy for bloggin my regular happenings. I just thought I'd take the time and... well, blog about it.

Guaranted, stuff has happened, and by the time I post about it, it'll all be weeks old, so it won't really be news anymore.

But I'm still alive!

Merf!

Draw Me In... a series of unfortunate events...

Sunday, August 19

On Friday I had both high hopes and my heart broken... all by the same guy.

As part of my Draw Me In campaign, I managed to gain contact with artist/writer Dan Jurgens. For those of you who don't know, he's the man responsible for me collecting comics in the first place. He both wrote and drew my "starter drug" to the hobby with Superman #75: The Death of Superman!

So Dan Jurgens is a pretty big deal to me. So imagine the hopes I had, that he could possibly draw me in to a comic. But after I "buttered" him up with compliments, telling him that he started me into this wonderful hobby, I get another e-mail telling me he'll "have to pass".

He was polite all throughout, so I can't have any hard feelings toward him, he even said he "appreciated my quest" and wished me luck with other artists.

Thanks man, thanks for crushing a fanboys dream.

Merf.

The Whitest Kids U Know

Thursday, August 16

Up until a week ago, I didn't even know these guys existed. They're like Kids in the Hall, and this show airs on FUSE Network... which again... is a channel I didn't even know existed.

I suggest watching them both, because someday I'll bust out with quotes, and you'll have no idea what I'm talking about... and won't you look stupid?

Power Outage

Tuesday, August 14

Well, I was planning on doing a bunch of posting on Sunday, but life had other plans.

I got off work at 3, grabbed a bite to eat, then went home and took a "power nap". I woke up sometime around 5 and started supper. It was around the time Rachael had problems getting the washer started, when we noticed something was wrong. Actually it was when I noticed it got darker in the dinning room. Yeah... the power was out.

I reported the problem then checked with the neighbors to make sure it wasn't just my house. After about on hour and a half a truck shows up. He tries the reset button, no power, and drives off.

A few more hours pass, it's dark, it's getting warmer. We ended up cooking the french fries that were in the oven on the grill. Around 9:30 two trucks and four guys show up and fix what I guess was the transformer in 30 minutes. What a unproductive night. Although, grilling out was nice.

Going to the Chapel...

Saturday was Tom and Cindy's wedding, friends of Rachael and I. They had a small but nice little wedding in their backyard. My girlfriend was one of the bride's maids. She looked beautiful.

Later at the reception, she caught the bouquet whilst I caught the garter belt. They say it wasn't planned but I have my suspicions.

Earlier in the day I had the bright idea to do yard work with my shirt off, so I have a bit of a burn. Plus I had to work in the morning the next day, but other than that I had fun and I'm happy for them. They are really great people.

Also, on another note, for all the weddings I've been to lately, and future ones... I want to learn how to do this at one of them eventually.

Superman, For Reals Ya'll

Wednesday, August 8

WELLINGTON, New Zealand - A New Zealand couple is looking to call their newborn son Superman — but only because their chosen name of 4Real has been rejected by the government registry.

Pat and Sheena Wheaton say they will get around the decision by the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages by officially naming their son Superman but referring to him as 4Real, the New Zealand Herald newspaper has reported.

The Wheatons decided on the name after seeing the baby for the first time in an ultrasound scan and realizing their baby was “for real.”

Concert!

Monday, August 6

Saturday night I went to go see Third Eye Blind at the Uptown Theatre. Even though the band is only ten years old, I was listening to these guys in high school, so it felt as if I was trying to connect with my "youth".
Listen to me, talking like I'm old or something. Anyway, I went with this guy (above), someone who also discovered Third Eye Blind in high school. I'm glad we went together, it'd been a while since we've done something like this.
While we were gathering in the crowd before the stage, there was a handicap lady in a motorized wheelchair trying to make her way up front. Now for a visual, this (girl/woman?) looked like a cross between Paris Hilton and Stephen Hawking. For reals. She didn't look like she had much mobility. She had an ipod, cell phone, day planner, and a dog in her lap. Yeah, a little dog too. And so this lady was kinda hitting peoples ankles trying to get up front.
After a while some dude (father/husband?) in a field and stream jacket joined her. Tried to get her closer but the people who "drove seven hours to get there" just weren't having it. And so they stayed, right next to us in the crowd, which got us worried if the crowd were to start "surfing" and "moshing" later.
The opening act was a no name band who had just recently been signed to a label I don't remember. Not like it's important. The important part is this band was named Thundercatz and was basically Black Eyed Peas lite.
They played music you would expect on a Black Eyed Peas album, and even pretty much had the same formula for a band, right down to their own little Fergie. What's funny is a few times the band would acknowledge the fact that they probably were not what the crowd would probably expect to open for a band like 3eb. We'll see how that group goes.
After the opening act, some security folk decided it would probably be best if wheelchair lady were to be moved to the side of the crowd. Yeah, good move there guys. Thanks.
Third Eye Blind rocked. They played just about every song from their greatest hits album. What more could you ask for in a concert. The crowd sang to just about every song, it was zen like. For "Never Let You Go" the guitarist brought out his (10 year old?) son out to play rhythm. It was "cutesy", at most. Overall: Great show.

... And the Dust Clears

Wednesday, August 1

San Diego Comic Con is officially over this year. Here's some highlights of things that I missed!

Last year I was on hand for the release of DC Comic Stamps. This year set the stage for Marvel Stamps. They were released nation wide on Friday, I got my sheet already.

Heroes had a good presence at the con. Apparently their booth looked like Isaac's appartment. They handed out goodies which are going for high bids on eBay already. Some news though, Zachary Quinto (Sylar) was announced to play Spock in the next Star Trek Film scheduled for December of next year.

All of the online comics are going to be collected and printed in TPB form by DC/Wildstorm. Cool.

DC announced a lot of changes and new series. Nothing too major, some unexpected. All of which will cost me more money in the long run.

Smallville! This is what pissed me off the most. Last year there was NO Smallville presence at all. So of couse this year they show up, sign autographs, bring the new Supergirl. Ugh!

All this plus goodies on the new Dark Knight and Iron Man movies. This is going to kill me every year from now on I feel. Nuts.
