Discharge! The Wallpaper!

Thursday, February 22

Here's a link to St. Louis CW11 footage of the Who Wants to Be a Superhero? audition coverage. If you look carefully, you'll spot a certain goggle clad bald head guy with a microphone.

Draw Me In... Me.. Want... Brains!

It doesn't hit stands until next Wednesday, however my store got a preview copy of The Walking Dead #35 and guess what? I'm now a zombie.

As promised by series artist Charlie Adlard, I am on page two and indeed cut in half... by a freakin' car.

So yup... it's happening. I'm becoming a part of my hobby. Damn.

Who Wants to Be A Superhero? This Guy Does!

Wednesday, February 21

For quite sometime a friend of mine has been talking about trying out for the second season of Who Wants to Be A Superhero? on the SciFi Channel. And now after many weeks, perhaps months of prep work, he now stands to audition, costume and all.

His name is Jeff Stewart, and he is Discharge!

He and another of our merry band are to travel east this weekend to St. Louis to an open audition for the show. I wish him luck (and I want lots of pictures!!!).

Go Figure...

Monday, February 19

Mel Brooks films... for all his body of work in comedies, there are at least three that stand out to me: Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstien, and Spaceballs.

Of these three wonderful films would I gladdly purchase figures from.

There were 12' Young Frankenstien figures made, but I of course live in the world of 7' figures. They were B&W and as they should be, just as the Sin City figures are.

I think about a good three to four figures from each film would work. That'd be enough for my pocket book at least.

Draw Me In... FREEZE!

Look out, I'm packing heat.

Sunday I got a nice surprise in e-mail form. Robin artist Freddie Williams II sent me this thumbnail image from a forth coming fill in issue he drew of Blue Beetle #15 (solicited for May 30... guest staring Superman!).

Anyway, not only is my mouth open (which suggests a speaking role perhaps??), but he mentions that I'm in THREE @#$% PAGES!
OHhhhh... hell yeah.

Like always... it's the waiting that's the hardest part. But what a nice birthday gift.

What the Hell Is Going On Here?

Thursday, February 15

Not a whole lot, that's for sure.

Don't get me wrong... stuff's been going on... friends, work, fun, life in general... I just haven't cared to type it up in blog form... that and I'm lazy too.

So... what to mention?

Lost 20lbs so far for the year... yeah me! Almost to my own personal goal, and only three months earlier than expected too!

Got a Sarah Connor T2 figure. Can't wait to get my showcase back in order.

"The Boys" found a new home at Dynamite Comics... hope to see it soon.

Just a reminder... I'm supposed to be a zombie here soon in Walking Dead #35... should be two to three more weeks. I'll be sad if I'm not in it. I've not spoke with series artist Charlie Aldred since his e-mail. Wish I had a picture like what Ryan Ottley sent me. Just as proof... you know?

This past week was US Toy Fair 2007. I'm going to get this, and some Harry Potter (here, here, and here), and because I'm a consumer whore... all of these!

Also, just within the last 24hrs I've been wrapped around a wonderful discovery dealing with a favorite videogame of mine. I'd rather wait until I can figure it out myself before sharing it with friends, however when/if I do... I'll have one hell of a party around it.

We'll see how long until the next post... keep it real until then.

Comic Book Issues...

Thursday, February 1

I've had a few issues lately with stuff happening to my comic book universe.

First off, one of my quickly growing favorite titles "The Boys" got the axe, rather quickly and unexpectedly too. It was cancelled at issue #6, which is already on stands. The Boys #7 was supposed to hit shelves next week. No official reason has been made about the series cancellation (most suspect content issues), however it was creator owned and it's been said already that the series is shopping around for another publisher. It's just going to be a long wait for it most likely.

In an unexpected move, I decided to drop a few titles that for the longest time have been good and/or favorites: Aquaman and Catwoman.
As of now they've only been dead weight and a waste of money. I'm a big self proclaimed Aquaman fan, but this ISN'T Aquaman. What the hell DC?

And lastly, news that broke yesterday, Geoff Johns is leaving Teen Titans to clear up his schedule. Series artist Tony Daniel is also leaving when Johns exits. I've enjoyed his run on the book and will be sad when he leaves. Coming into the book will be Adam Beechen, writer on Robin. I picked up Robin on the start of Adam's run and it's been hit and miss. Of course I'll give it a shot. I just have this thing about change and "if it ain't broke... yadda yadda".

Biggest Loser... Kicking Ass and Taking Names

As I weighed in last Tuesday, I managed to shock myself. I lost twice as much as I thought I would have for the week, and to make things even better, I had lost a total of 15lbs for the month. Not too bad I think. A lot better than I had ever really hoped for... so I must be doing something right.

And if that wasn't enough, I got a "ranking list" for everybody who's competing in my office "Biggest Loser" competion.

I ranked in at #2... biting at the heels of my competion. They judge by percentage of body weight lost, not on pounds. The #1 winner had a 6.83%... and I was at 6.73%.

That's one month down, about... um... five or so more to go.

Go Figure...

Here's one that I actually got from a suggestion of a friend. And one that I should have considered, as I am a fan of their work.

Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin.

No reason making a series out of them. Idividual figures would work nicely. One could argue a point of making a Rat Pack set, although I'm not a big Sammy Davis Jr. fan or... of the other guy... I forget how many guys actually made up the Rat Pack.

They'd go great next to my Elvis figures.

Previously:
Go Figure... Ghostbusters
Go Figure... Heroes
Go Figure... Aerosmith
Go Figure... Star Trek
Go Figure... Conan O'Brien
Go Figure... Three Stooges
Go Figure... Indiana Jones
Go Figure... Ripley
